Introducing your teacher Graham

At the age of 15 Graham started Ballroom Dancing in Brisbane to strengthen his legs due to a walking issue. He then moved to Sydney where he did competition Ballroom Dancing for over 10 years, both as dancer and teacher. Being part of the Ballroom community provided him with the unique experience of dancing in the Closing Ceremony of the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. He has briefly studied other forms of dance such as Jazz, Rock & Roll, and Swing.

Graham has transitioned to Argentine Tango and studied with a wide range of overseas Argentine Tango dance teachers, learning from each of them their interpretation of this dance, and developing his own dance style.

His attraction to this style of dance is the improvisation and the level of personalisation allowed for each dancer to express themself. The embrace between the dancers shows respect and consideration for their partner. Whilst one dance, there are different tempos with distinct musical elements identifying the dance such as rhythm, harmony and melody, instrumentation, phrasing, and form. There is so much depth and richness in this dance style and Graham looks forward to sharing this with you.
